Luxist: Free Macarons on Macaron Day in New York City
Dubbed the “new cupcake” its time to celebrate macarons during the second annual Macaron Day, which will be held on Sunday, March 20. Many of the finest bakers and chocolatiers, includingFrançois Payard and La Maison du Chocolat, will be celebrating the occasion by giving away free macarons to their customers. In 2010, François Payard organized the first Macaron Day in New York City. Macaron Day coincides annually with Jour du Macaron in Paris.
Floating Hotel Opens in Thailand
Hilton Hotels & Resorts has opened a floating hotel in Pattaya, Thailand. Called Hilton Pattaya, the sleek and modern property offers a fresh, luxe beachfront experience to the heart of the international beach resort of Pattaya, which overlooks the Gulf of Thailand and is about 90 minutes southeast of Bangkok. Pattaya is a once-sleepy fishing village that first captivated Americans as a R&R destination during the Vietnam War era.
Cafe 676 Opens In Chicago
There’s a new option for outdoor dining in Chicago. Cafe 676, which just opened, is located at Huron and North Michigan in front of the Omni Chicago Hotel which is already home to the 676 Restaurant and Bar.. The fare focuses on local purveyors and menu items will change by season. The menu consists of light snacks, starters, entree salads and specialty sandwiches and seasonal smoothies using local fruits and vegetables are available.
Vista al Mar, Estate of the Day
Even some beachfront property in southern California is slow to move. One estate Vista al Mar in Dana Point, California, is headed for auction. The home is located in The Strand at Headlands, southern California’s last and most exclusive beachfront community. The development has several tiers of oceanview homes, this one appears to be on one of the middle levels. The new home was once priced at over $15 million but will be auctioned off with an opening bid of just $7.5 million.
