Coffee is one of the most popular beverages consumed by people around the world every morning. Most of us indulge in a cup of joe before getting the workday started and some of us keep it handy to stay fully functional throughout the day.

If you are a coffee lover and can’t see yourself without the fragrant morning brew, that’s okay – a majority of the population feels this way. But, we’d at least like to suggest a few ways you can consume coffee in a healthier way.

  1. Don’t drink too much

We’ve all heard from experts and read articles where they talk about how too much caffeine cause can health issues thus their suggestions for limiting our maximum daily intake to no more than 1-2 cups. If you’re a champion coffee lover who drinks more than a few cups a day, try to lessen your intake gradually and don’t cut it down to one or two cups, if possible. Let your body slowly adjust by reducing at least a cup of coffee a week.

  1. Avoid too much sugar

Too much sugar in anything you eat or drink is harmful and may lead you to serious health problems such as diabetes. Adding too much sugar to your coffee will surely reduce or eliminate its health benefits. However, if you really want your coffee sweetened, use natural sweeteners like Stevia, Erythritol, Xylitol, and Yacon Syrup.

  1. Choose organic

Consider buying organic coffee beans and do the grinding and brewing yourself. You’ll know exactly what you’re consuming at this point. That way, you can surely experience fresh ground coffee without any harmful chemicals like pesticides that are common with non-organic coffees.

  1. Prefer black

If you like sweetened coffee, you might not actually like black coffee because of its bitter taste. Black coffee has many health benefits and one of these is cutting down your calories. It is bitter at first but if you’ll try it more often, your taste buds will easily adapt its strong flavor.

  1. Know when to avoid it

Coffee is known for its caffeine content, a stimulant. It will help you to increase your psychological and nervous activity, that’s why it is suggested to drink at the start of your day as it will make you stay awake. On the other hand, you must avoid drinking coffee after 2-3 pm because it may cause you to stay awake when its time for bed. Poor sleep leads to help problem which no one wants. So instead of drinking coffee after 2-3 pm, switch on drinking tea or choose a decaffeinated coffee so you can be able to sleep at night.
